Top 10 – Bucket list
What are holidays for, if not to take it slow.
Go down to the river, lay down on a sun bath with a good book, or just close your eyes and listen to the frogs, the birds, and the wind in the leaves.
Maybe, if you are feeling active, you can jump into the water, or even more, float around in a canoe or kayak.
But no pressure, just enjoy.
Of course the best swimming spot is our private beach. The water is calm, warm and deep.
For children, and if you are looking for a little getaway, there are a lot of other swimming spots within 5 to 20 minutes driving distance.
Our favourite are Trebas (including outdoor games for kids, barbecue and pick nick tables, little café along the river) and Connac (calm and a beautiful view).
Be sure to check the map above.
From the Castle, there are several short hiking paths along the river. You can also take the car and start a longer hike from elsewhere. We can help you choose the hike you will love the most.
You can also take your bike or rent an electrical bike to tour around the valley. We have one electrical bike to rent, but you can also rent them in Trebas, Plaisance or Requista.
See the map down below for several nice hikes and bike routes.
There are numerous picturesque villages with early Romanesque churches, abbeys and medieval castles, such as the castle of Coupiac, St.Izaire or Brousse-le-Chateau (named one of the most beautiful villages of France).
In Brousse-le-Chateau, do not forget to sit down at the local restaurant and eat a delicious ice cream. Visit Coupiac on a monday evening, so you can also go to the evening market (Bucket list n°6).
Strolling through Albi means discovering a piece of history, visiting the famous Sainte-Cécile cathedral, the collegiate church and its cloister, the Berbie palace and its Toulouse-Lautrec museum. But it is also to take a good bowl of nature by traversing the Tarn on its fitted out banks or in a barge, this traditional boat of the region.
On your way, be sure to stop at Ambialet to visit its village, its four churches, its Priory,
its hydroelectric plant.
In Millau, you will quickly be overtaken by a desire to move. The water, the earth and the air offer you fabulous playgrounds, in grandiose landscapes.
With its very ancient history, Millau is also rich in its cultural and economic heritage.
On your way, be sure to visit the caves of Roquefort, as the collection of milk from Lacaune sheep is carried out over the department of Aveyron.
Whether as part of a village festival, a flea market, a fair, a stock market or a clearance sale, you will find what you are looking for in this calendar of garage sales and flea markets : BROCANTES
Tasting, sale of local products...
Buy your meal from local producers and eat it on the village square in a musical atmosphere.
Grills, plates of charcuterie, vegetables, aligot, pastries, ice cream...
Tables and chairs are at your disposal.
Coupiac and Trebas have their evening markets on monday.
Here are some farmers who open the doors of their farms to share with you their history, their daily life, their know-how, and introduce you to their animals.
This exchange, always friendly, will delight the whole family, that's for sure!
